TRACEN Petaluma California

Petaluma began as Two Rock Ranch, an Army post with the secret mission of listening to Japanese communications. It became obsolete in that purpose and the Coast Guard saved it from closing because they needed more space for training during the Vietnam War. The USCG renamed the base after relieving the Army of its command.

Today the Training Center covers 800 acres of land and has 219 buildings. The 10 schools on base train 4,000 students annually in the 200,000 square feet of facilities.
