District 7 is responsible for the good going and defensive operations in Florida. It is headquartered in Miami and deals with the operations in South Carolina, Florida and Georgia. It is, therefore, a small military unit overseeing a wide area. Other than that, it ensures patrolling sessions around Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. The military unit is led by William D. Baumgartner. District 7 benefits from a large fleet, including high speed boats and ships, mostly because it is responsible for over 1.8 square miles of water. With all these, the patrolling operations are not the most important and exhausting aspects. What causes more trouble and problems is the illegal immigration. District 7 is located right in the path of those illegal immigrants who simply cannot get the proper papers to get in the United States of America. The same route is also the favorite path for the drug dealers invading the USA from South America. In other words, the patrolling operations are nothing. There are other aspects that catch the attention of the District 7 troops.
District 7 is the most important unit used by the US government to control the drug traffic. It is currently responsible for over 90% of such actions since 1973, when it was given this opportunity. Every year, these professionals conduct more than 10000 successful operations in the constant fight against drugs. What is even more important is that they always have to stay in touch with the technology and the latest techniques used by the criminals. These experts have three major concerns whenever they wake up and head to work. The first one is the wide area they have to patrol and control. The second one is the numerous amount of ships going through this area. This second concern defines the third one. Which ship might be problematic? Controlling all of them in every corner is basically impossible, therefore District 7 has special units that can identify the problematic cargo. Identifying an illegal immigrant is also problematic. In order to succeed in their mission, the District 7 troops work in a tight collaboration with the local Immigration and Naturalization Service. At the same time, the Border Patrol, the local Attorney’s Office and many other local agencies are just as useful in this continuous battle.
Units and facilities
District 7 is composed of five different group offices. Each of them has particular tasks and objectives. In order to succeed, they must work together and know their limits and possibilities. Other than that, it includes four bases for training, four stations for air operations and 20 stations for various other missions. There are more than 10000 individuals working together for the good going of District 7. What makes their work even harder is the proper climate for year round boating operations.
Housing
When assigned to District 7, most housing opportunities are off site. The on site accommodation is limited and normally created for the superiors. Simply get in touch with the local authorities to find out more.
