Lakehurst New Jersey
Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst, sometimes called Maxfield Field, is a Navy air base located in Lakehurst, Orange County, New Jersey. It is operated by the Naval Air Systems Command and is now part of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst as of October 1, 2009.
The station is the largest naval aviation installation in the northeast United States and is home to the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, which is the premier authority in Aircraft Launch and Recovery Equipment and Support Equipment. This Division has the primary mission of assuring safe operations of expeditionary airfield as well as aircraft carrier-borne fixed wing and vertical wing aircraft.
Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst is now the Aircraft Platform Interface expert of the Department of Defense particularly its lighter-than-air center.
