Camp Patriot is one of the latest camps established in Kuwait and run by the US Army. It is located on the eastern coast of the country. It was established during the military operations in Kuwait. These days, it is mostly used for the invasion of Iraq. It helped with the so called liberation of Iraq, the search of mass destruction weapons and the elimination of Saddam Hussein. This base, as one of the most advanced ones in Kuwait, represented the headquarters for the operations in Iraq. These days, it hosts around 3000 citizens from various fields of the army, including Marines, soldiers or sailors.

The base “suffered” multiple upgrades and improvements prior and during the operation. For instance, it only took 18 days to raise the Elevated Causeway System Modular, a pier used in the bridging of the surf area. It is basically a connection between the beach and the vessels. The pier is mostly meant to help with the transportation of essential equipments.

Units

Camp Patriot currently supports and hosts the one and only Amphibious Seabees group, part of the US Navy. The unit has multiple subgroups. Although they have particular tasks, most of them are trained for the construction on the coast and transportation. Other than that, the camp hosts multiple tenant units and groups as well. Many of them are dispatched temporarily, mostly for the Iraqi attacks.

Facilities

The camp may be one of the most important and advanced ones in Kuwait, but the facilities are far from excellent. From this point of view, it is at the bottom line. As a matter of fact, many of the bases in Kuwait are in a similar situation. The troops are basically located in dry lands covered with sands and use tents or metallic structures instead of actual buildings. Fortunately for the inhabitants, this camp includes a few buildings too.

Luckily for the troops, the camp also benefits from some technologies others in the area don’t. For instance, they have access to Internet. As a matter of fact, the units inhabiting Camp Patriot are so tightly connected that they share a special group on Facebook too. The access to Internet is vital for the troops. They can easily keep in touch with their families, whether they want to see their mothers or talk to their kids.

Other than that, the camp provides access to a solid medical clinic, as well as a few other useful offices.

Housing

The camp is among the active ones mostly due to its location. Therefore, housing here becomes a necessity once you are deployed. There is no such thing as off site housing due to the surrounding areas. Besides, the area is not quite the most secure one in the world. For this reason, all the soldiers are hosted on site. The system is not privatized, but run by the Americans.

Most of the temporary troops don’t have the option to bring in any of their families, as the housing opportunities are limited. Those who are dispatched here for long periods of time do. This is generally available for the superiors.
