Lackland is a U.S. Air Force base that is located in San Antonio, Texas and is named after Brigadier General Frank Lackland. It is currently under the authority of the 802d Mission Support Group, Air Education and Training Command, or commonly known as the AETC. Lackland is a section of what is known as a joint base, which came about when Lackland AFB was merged with Army Fort Sam Houston and Air Force Randolph AFB October 2010. They are separate military installations that are located on one base.
